Series 1 of the Borrowers was first transmitted in 1992. The main characters Pod, Homily and Arrietty are played by Ian Holm, Penelope Wilton and Rebecca Callard. This series is the winner of 9 top awards, including BAFTA, Cable Ace and an International Emmy. Welcome to the world of the Borrowers, a family of tiny people who live under the floorboards in a big old house. Pod, Homily and their daughter Arriety live happily in a home furnished with cotton reels and safety pins. Where postage stamps are used for paintings and matchboxes for chests of drawers. Everything they have is borrowed from the 'human beans' that don't even know they exist. That is until the fateful day when Arrietty makes friends with 'the boy' George. First broadcast in 1992 this adaptation of the classic Mary Norton novel takes you to a world full of fantastic adventures that are enjoyable for the whole family. Extras include: behind the scenes footage from Blue peter, a photo gallery, quiz, a taster from Series 2 and trailer of further Children's Classics with voice-over by Richard Briers.
